Discarded paper,
back to the desk.
PAPERUS is a brand by the design agency SUM Korea.
Seeing paper waste and defective sheets produced in the making of printed materials, we began to think.
PAPERUS is a sustainable lifestyle brand that reimagines these papers as new materials and objects.
Our proprietary PAPER MARBLE™ combines the texture of paper with the matte feel of stone.
Every object reveals a different pattern and grain through the making process.

A brand’s waste paper, packaging offcuts, and event print materials are reborn as objects with their own colors and stories. We work with you from material development and product design through production and packaging.
We collected large quantities of business cards discarded after a company-wide CI change and transformed them into versatile trays for meeting spaces.
We transformed returned Glen Grant packaging that could no longer be used into a coaster set.
An upcycled diffuser made from SK-II’s past-season shopping bags, offered as a gift at SK-II stores in Hong Kong and Japan.
We recycled TV boxes to create remote-control cradles.
We recycled pharmaceutical packaging into multipurpose trays for vitamins, red ginseng, and other supplements.
We transformed discarded packaging and shopping bags into shelving for clothing products.
We transformed paper by-products from store dismantling and installation into in-store display stands and fixtures.
